Clockwise circuit ydi’r bwriad mwy na heb I fyny’r lon Newry Drive wedyn llwybr at giat mynydd (SH702741) tir agored am minor tops am y cylch cerrig-Talyfan-bwlch-Moel Llwyd-Bwlch y Ddeufan-Drum-Yr Orsedd-Garreg Fawr- llwybr yn nol I’r dechrau. Wedi defnyddio hwn o’r blaen am club run- oddeutu 2 awr. Route da am grwp o gallu gwahanol gan bod digon o gyfle I rhai mwy ffit ychwanegu mwy o climbs fel bod pawb yn aros mewn un grwp mwy na heb.

This Sunday’s run: from Llanfairfechan, meet at Nant y Coed car park ((GR: 695738). A clockwise circuit up Newry Drive and footpath to the mountain gate (SH702741), on to the open country and minor summits to the stone circle – Talyfan – Bwlch – Moel Llwyd – Bwlch y Ddeufan – Drum – Yr Orsedd – Garreg Fawr. This has been used in the past on a club run – around 2 hours but good route for group running as faster runners could fit in more summits if they like.

Wknd fell race news and Penmaenmawr results

Pen Fell race

A cracking 192 runners finished the oldest fell race in Wales on a stunning day which was soaking underfoot. First Eryri man home was vet 50 Russell Owen in 4th overall in 1.19, with Paul Jones close behind in 1.20 and 2nd vet 40. James McQueen was next home in 7th in 1.21. Rory O’Donnell, Craig Jones and Tim Watson soon followed. GPJ, the returning Emlyn W Roberts and Gwion Williams were next home with Andrea Rowlands back as 2nd lady in 1.32, Ellie Salisbury finished as 2nd lady vet 50 in 1.45. As usual there were many more Eryri finishers – see results on Excel file on rhs of this page.

Thanks once again to Chris Near and his team of helpers for sorting out another smooth running of this classic race.

Wrekin Wrecker

Down in the Midlands Martin Cliffe continued his good form. Martin finished in 6th overall and 3rd vet 40, whilst his partner Jo Moore stormed to victory in the ladies vet 40’s.

Alun Storms to Victory

Having only run one Half Marathon before (Blackpool in 2008. 1st in 69.47) Alun Vaughan also won the Conwy H/M today in a time of 70.31. Alun also had time to enjoy the scenery while running around the course which included a loop of Llandudno’s Great Orme as he won quite comfortably ahead of his club colleague, Brendan Rothery 73.56. With Arthur Connell 10th in a time of 80.21, Eryri also won the team title. Jim Bacon was another who had a good run finishing not far behind Arthur in 11th place in a time of 80.33 with Rob Chadwick 18th 82.35. Iwan Edgar won the MV/55 title finishing 53rd overall in a time of 88.23.

In all there were 19 Eryri Harriers competing amongst the 1578 race finishers.

The event also incorporated the North Wales H/M Championships with Gold medals going to Alun Vaughan. Iwan Edgar. Roy Jardine MV/65 and Tammy Lewis-Jones Female V/40.

Brendan Rothery had the consolation of retaining his Eryri Road Running Title yet again!

Rob & Matt Leeds the Way

Eryri’s Rob Samuel and Matthew Roberts both represented Wales in the Inter Area Match at the Leeds Abbey Dash 10k today run in ideal conditions Rob finished 22nd overall in a time of 30.55 with Matt 33rd in a personal best time for the distance of 31.29. Richard Roberts was also selected for the event but had to withdraw due to a re-occurrence of his foot injury. There were some very good times all round in the event won by Luke Cragg in a fast time of 29.29. The 1st Welsh finisher was Dave Mountford in 11th place 30.03 with Andy Davies 14th 30.20. Menai’s Sarah Livett running for Wales in the women’s team also clocked a PB time of 36.26.
