Parks a Winner at Home in the Park

Eryri’s John Parkinson won the 4th running of the Penrhyn ParkRun on Saturday 6th December. John went off fast from the start before the carnicross dogs could catch him! to win in a time of 17:48 well clear of 2nd placed Phil Lynes 18:22. Noel Craine finished 7th overall & 1st MV/50 in 19:02. Arwel Lewis 13th & 1st MV/55 in 20:08. The 1st female finisher was Bangor University’s Beckie Taylor in 21:06 with Eryri’s Bronwen Jenkinson 2nd in 21:36. Helen Blair finished 35th overall & 1st FV/45 in 23:17 while Maggie Oliver finished 59th overall & 1st FV/65 in 27:26. There were 93 finishers on a very cold morning.

New Eryri vest design – vote YES or NO!

If you were at the recent club AGM you’ll know that there are plans for a new design for the Eryri Harriers running vest.

The decision is down to all club members, all members will have received an email with a link which will allow you to either vote for the new vest design or to stick with the present design. The questionnaire closes on December 19th, with the results announced at the Christmas Fun Run on the 21st December.


Great turnout at Wrexham XC

Well done to all Eryri members who made the trip to misty Wrexham and gave it their all in a good old-fashioned blast around the school playing fields. Junior results to follow too!

There were 12 men and 11 ladies altogether, all helping to bring the men’s team up to an impressive 2nd place, with the ladies team maintaing a strong lead in 1st place. The ladies Masters team are currently in 2nd place, with the men’s masters team improving to 4th position.

Running in men’s race, Fred Maier led the Eryri Men home (9th overall), closely followed by Owen Roberts, Craig Jones, Matthew Fortes, Steve P Jones, Arwel Lewis, Kean Rowlands, Eurwyn Edwards, Steve L Jones and Dave Kirby.

In the ladies race, Andrea Rowlands (2nd lady) was followed by Louise Emery-Jones, Becki Law, Megan Hughes, Lou Beetlestone, Helen Blair, Sandra Rowlands, Joanne Moore (congratulations on 1st run back!), Alison Donnelly, Maggie Oliver and Becca Roberts. Running in the same race, John Spill had a fantastic run, coming in 1st overall and in the U17 age category, with Don Williams running well to come in 78th overall.

Well done to all and many thanks to Arwel/Lou for making sure the bus got there and back!

Second Borders League Race

The 2nd race of the Borders Road Running League takes place this Sunday 7th December at Tattenhall. Start 11am. Open and free to all Eryri club members.

Race 2, hosted by Chester Tri, will start and finish at Tattenhall Recreation Club, Field Lane, Tattenhall, CH3 9QF.

There is a parking area for about 150 cars but with over 300 runners expected we ask all runners to please car share if possible. This will help us to minimise the impact of the race on the village. Note that the parking area is in two parts with separate access points, so please follow signs and directions from marshals.

There are toilets available in the Recreation Club.
