Ras Mynydd Bwlch Maesgwm / Bwlch Maesgwm Fell Race.

Daeth criw o tua 50 o redwyr profiadol at ei gilydd ar gyfer Ras Mynydd Bwlch Maesgwm, dydd Sul diwethaf, 15fed of Fawrth yn Llanberis.

Mae’r trywydd y ras yn gymygfa diddorol iawn o lon serth (yn cychwyn ychydig cyn Caffi cyntaf Wyddfa) cyn symud ymlaen is lon fferm, wedyn cau mwdlyd a wedyn llwybr mynydd carrego, cyn droi a chymeryd yr un trywydd yn ol.

Roedd y tywydd yn yn berfaith – diwrnod clir, sych gydag awel braf.  Amgylchiadau perfaith felly i dorri’r record amser gan yr enillwr Gareth Wyn Hughes mewn amser o 00:44:31 (categori agored) ac hefyd Lauren Jeska ar ran y merched mewn amser o 00:47:32.  Cipiodd Lauren y categori agored ac hefyd y categori V40!

Enillwyr yn y categoriau eraill i ddynion oedd Garry Williams V40 (00:50:08) ac Emlyn Roberts V50 (00:53:48).
Enillwyr yn y categoriau eraill i ferched oedd Jill Riley V50 (01:04:25).

Diolch yn fawr iawn i’r gwifyddolwyr i gyd ac i Westy Fictoria am eu cymorth wrth gynnal y ras.

Emlyn Owen.

Around 50 runners went for it last Sunday, 15th of March on the Bwlch Maesgwm Fell Race in Llanberis.  The route is an excellent mix of an initial steep road start (just prior the first Snowdon Café) before moving along to a farm road, followed by muddy field then very rocky, technical hill path, then following the same route back.

The weather was great – dry with a light breeze and no fog.  Perfect conditions then for Gareth Wyn Hughes to break the course record in a time of 00:44:31 (open category) and Lauren Jesk for the ladies, breaking the female record in a time of 00:47:32.  Lauren took both the open and V40 categories.
Other category winners were Garry Williams V40 (00:50:08) and Emlyn Roberts V50 (00:53:48) for the men.
Jill Riley V50 (01:04:25) for the women.

Many thanks to the volunteers and the Victoria Hotel for their assistance in holding the race.

Emlyn Owen.
