ROB'S MUDLARK WIN

Rob Samuel followed up his North Wales Cross Country League win at a very muddy Mold last November with another impressive win in yet another mud bath at Baschurch, Shrewsbury on Saturday 16th January in the penultimate race of the 2015/16 season. Rob made light work of the conditions on the 9km course to win in a time of 33:10 followed by Richard Roberts who was comfortable in 2nd place in a time of 34:50 with Owen Roberts also having a good run finishing 10th (1st U/20) 36:26. Unfortunately! Eryri only had the five male club members competing in the Senior/Masters men’s race with the mini bus driver having to run (Arwel Lewis 56th – 42:51) and the ever reliable Steve Llan Jones 110th- 50:43. Still, Eryri were placed 4th on the day and still hang on to 3rd place overall while the Masters were 9th team on the day and currently 6th overall. There were 122 finishers.
Another Mr reliable Don Williams was also a winner on the day with an impressive win in the MV/70 race in a time of 27.21 a good distance ahead of runner-up Arthur Egan (Wrexham) 28:49. Good to see that there were 12 MV/70’s competing.
Eryri’s women, although understrength with 5 club members competing ran well to ensure they are still well placed to win both the senior and Masters Team Titles. Ali Lavender (Oswestry) comfortably won the Women’s 3.2mile race in a time of 21:41 with Becky Taylor leading Eryri’s ladies home in 11th place with a time of 24:19 followed by: 14th (3rd FV/45) Tammy Lewis-Jones 24:31. 17th Megan Hughes 24:58. 19th Helen Blair 25:17 and 60th Alison Donnelly 30:39. There were 85 finishers. Eryri’s women were placed 2nd on the day but remain 1st overall with 185 points ahead of nearest rivals Oswestry (276pts). Eryri’s Masters Women were placed 3rd on the day and also remain 1st overall with 86 points ahead of Oswestry again who have 117 points.
Now for the double for our women’s team at Oswestry on Saturday 6th February for the final race of the season. There will once again be a free mini bus going to the event departing Parc menai at 10:30am.
