Also on Sunday 4th November; Rob Samuel was only five seconds off his PB when finishing 16th in a high quality race with a time of 30:26. There were 8158 finishers

5 Eryri Harriers were amongst the 200 finishers in the Abergele 5 mile race (Incorporating the North Wales Championships) on Sunday 4th November. Weather conditions were much improved from the previous days strong winds and heavy rain, the competitors only had a slight head wind to contend with on their return to the finish on the out and back race route. Leading Eryri home was 8th placed Alun Vaughan 27:58 winning the MV/40 Gold medal in the process, followed by: 43rd (1st MV/60 – NW Gold) Arwel Lewis 32:50. 52nd Dylan Huws 33:41, a PB for Dylan in his first ever 5 mile race! 171st Roy Jardine 49:35 & 182nd (NW – Bronze MV/70) Iorwerth Roberts 52:40. The race was won by Sale Harrier and former Eryri member Daniel Kashi in a very good time of 25:48.
A well organised event staged by Abergele Harriers, Sean McCormack and Team.

Brilliant at the Bay

Brilliant at the Bay – XC results so far and this week’s fixture

Cross country again next weekend, and last one for 2018, on Saturday 10th November at Ysgol Morgan Clywd, Wrexham LL13 9NG. Free minibus going if numbers warrant it, please let me know if you’d like a space, leaving 11.30am from Parc Menai, Bangor with pick ups along coast. Junior races are on in the morning too.

Anybody new to cross-country very welcome, along with all those who know and love it. The course at Wrexham is quite different to the hills of Colwyn Bay, with a flatter profile but still as hard (or as easy) as you want it to be. Look forward to seeing lots of Eryri vests once again!

Results from the last fixture have seen the senior men’s team move up from 7th overall into 5th overall – let’s keep this up! The male masters team are in 6th. Both ladies teams were 1st on the day and are currently 3rd overall in the senior ladies category and 5th overall in the lady masters category. Again, brilliant efforts that would be fantastic to continue, let’s keep going! See full results by following this link:https://www.northwalesxc.com/results

AGM, positions available

Dear Member,

It’s that time of year where the AGM is upon us and the opportunity to shape the future of the club presents itself.

For this year the AGM will be held at the Split Willow in Llanfairfechan on Tuesday 20th November at 7pm for 7.30pm and food is provided free of charge. We hope as many club members will be in attendance as possible.

As well as discussing club matters the committee for 2018/2019 will be elected. A number of current members are not standing for re-election and so we are looking for new members to join the committee and add their voice to how the club proceeds.

Committee roles

Road running secretary
Mountain running secretary
Cross country running secretary
Membership secretary
Welfare Officer Male/Female
Social secretary
Equipment officer
Kit officer
Ordinary members x 3

Please note that all roles will be voted for on the night so if you have any interest in any of the positions please get in touch with myself or any committee member and we will happily discuss things further.

The following roles are to be fully vacated at this years AGM and so we are definitely looking for new people to fill these positions:

Chairman – lead committee meetings, make decisions as and when required (Usually with committee approval), be the figurehead for the club when required (special events) (Stuart McDonald)

Vice-chairman – stand in if Chairman not available (Sioned Rowlands)

Cross country running secretary – mobilise runners for XC events, organise transport, organise (with lots of help!) an XC event on our patch (no event in 18/19 possibly one for 2019/20), report to committee meetings (Becki Law)

Fell running secretary – mobilise runners for events (particularly champs races and select teams for relays), organise transport, report to committee (Paul Jenkinson)

Firstly, let me say that committee meetings are not just a tea and biscuit fest and nor are they a borefest!! There are always items that require discussion and there a number of things that will continue to be developed over the coming year. Being a member of the committee is enjoyable and empowering as you know you are making decisions that hopefully have a positive impact on a number of people.

The current postholders are in brackets above so if you wish to have a discussion with them please don’t hesitate to contact them (I can facilitate this if required).

Please don’t assume that somebody will step forward, if you want to be a part of it please let us know. In an ideal world we will have candidates before the AGM so that we avoid the awkward moment where I ask if we have anyone to take a role on and everyone looks in the opposite direction!

We look forward to seeing you on the 20th and shaping the next committee to lead Eryri Harriers into 2019 and beyond.
