Annual General Meeting

Tuesday 18th November – Annual General Meeting

At Y Caban, Brynrefail – 7pm for food, 8pm meeting start. Always a good social evening as well as sorting out club business. Free hot food!

Who to insure your fellrace with?

The club committee have agreed that any Race Organiser who is organising a fellrace on behalf of the club may obtain a race permit/insurance from whichever organisation they deem fit.

This removes the obligation decided several years ago that they must obtain it from Welsh Athletics/UK Athletics.

This decision recognises the fact that the burden of responsibility for race organisation and safety lies primarily with the Organiser, and therefore responsibility for meeting the permit issuers’ rules and regulations also lies with them.

The committee recommends that in order to reduce the risk of falling foul of litigation/disciplinary action Organisers should examine closely the rules and regulations pertaining to the permit they have received and ensure that their own race organisation meets them.

Free 1 day Coaching Course on offer

The club is offering one member the opportunity to attend an official LiRF training course to become a qualified coach for the club.  Costs associated with the training will be paid by the club, we only ask in return that you genuinely intend to use the qualification for the good of the club.

This will allow you to officially coach both seniors and junior runners.  We already have one qualified coach, namely our Chairman and Junior Trainer, Paul Jenkinson.  Paul however could always do with a hand with the juniors occasionally.  The person attending this will also be well qualified to help out at the other training nights.

If interested please get in touch with Arwel Lewis asap on 07772 302411 or

Club AGM news

The Annual General Meeting and social evening took place at 8pm on Tuesday 12th November at the Padarn Lake Hotel, Llanberis. Please find attached the minutes from the meeting. Minutes AGM 2013

I would like to thank the committee members past and present for the support given to me during my three year tenure as club Chairman.  I am now standing down from the post, but will continue to be involved in the workings of the club via the post of webmaster.

Others standing down this year are, Maggie Oliver (Honorary Secretary & Cross country Rep), Alex Fletcher (Membership) , Trefor Jones and Eurwyn Edwards (Ordinary Members).

I am handing over to the new chair, namely Paul Jenkinson, who most people already know as the Junior Training and Safety Officer for the club.  I wish him well in the new role.

There are also other new club members who have joined the committee this year, namely Stuart McDonald (Vice Chair); Emma Green (Membership Secretary); Becki Law (Cross Country Rep); Rob Samuel (Training Coordinator); Kate Worthington (Ordinary Member).

I would also like to thank all the other club members for their support over the period, and look forward to spending more time running rather than writing emails about it!

Of course, each of you is welcome to stand for any committee post.

After three years in post I am standing down as Chairman.  The other posts becoming vacant are –
