Bike Style Tops

It has been suggested that we should make available to purchase some bike style tops. You know the ones with the short zip, pockets at the back and sleeves. A lot of runners also bike so we thought it was a good opportunity to have some more Eryri kit! On a practical level it has been suggested that the pockets are ideal for kit when running (saves using a bumbag) and also ideal for those autumn day runs when a vest is a bit skimpy but any more clothing and you’ll boil!

Please could you let a member of the committee know if you might be interested in one (I have already told myself!) and we’ll crack on getting some ordered. Designs/styles are being looked into at the moment so let us know and we’ll get them sorted.

Welsh Cross Country Champs

Singleton Park, Swansea, Sat 27th and a superb run by Rob Samuel to gain the silver medal in the men`s race! Annie Williams, who had won 3 of the league races in her W55 age group and Maggie Oliver W65 won 3rd place in their respective age groups. Tammy Lewis-Jones and Helen Blair were 4th and 10th in the extremely high standard W45 age group. Earlier in the day, Mike Spill had an excellent run to finish 2nd in the U13 boys race.

Congratulations to the following athletes who have been selected to run for North Wales in the British Inter Counties event at Cofton Park, Birmingham on March 12th : Mike Spill, John Spill, Ryan Owen, Annabelle McQueen, Bronwen Jenkinson, Becky Taylor, Tammy Lewis-Jones, Helen Blair and  Rob Samuel.

Welsh XC Championships Silver for Rob

Rob Samuel made the long journey down to Swansea worthwhile with a superb run to win a Silver medal at the Welsh Cross Championships on Saturday 27th February completing the 10.39k course in a time of 36:54 ahead of Swansea Harrier Chris Carpanini 37:18 and though some distance behind race winner, Swansea Harrier Dewi Griffiths 35:54 who is gearing up to represent Great Britain in the World Half marathon Championships in Cardiff next month, an excellent performance from Rob.
Well Done Rob.

Cross Country Update

The final muddy event in the North Wales Cross Country League was held at Oswestry on Feb 6th.

The women`s team were again led home by Becky Taylor, followed by Tammy, Megan and Helen packing closely, then the ever reliable Ellie Salisbury and Maggie. This sealed the first Ladies and Ladies masters team shield and cup, as well as individual awards for Becky Taylor (5th lady), Tammy (1st W45), Helen (2nd W45) and Maggie (3rd W65). Don Williams did not have to run in Oswestry to be awarded the 1st m70, as he won the previous 4 races! (In order to be eligible for an individual award the athlete must run in at least 4 of the 5 events).

Undoubtedly Rob Samuel and Richard Roberts, who won so comfortably at Oswestry, would have had an individual award had they been able to do four rather than three events. Richard was backed by Owen Roberts who finished a superb 8th, then the ever faithful Arwel Lewis and Steve Ll Jones. Even though the men were penalised again for not having a full team, they managed to hold on to the 3rd team award!

Well done to all who competed for the club this year in the league and the North Wales Champs! Congratulations and good luck to Rob Samuel and Bronwen Jenkinson (u20) who have been selected for the UK Inter Counties in Birmingham on March 12th.
