North Wales Junior Mountain Champs

With the Sandman moving its date and Menai deciding also to put on an event the same weekend it was a shame to see only 60 children turn up to compete.
Thanks for the continued support of X Ray Mineral Services, Mostyn Estates,Dewi Sinclair, Ron Jones Summit Cafe, Great Orme Mines, Orme Country Park and Caroline Jones at Conwy Leisure.  Thanks also to the faithful helpers from NWRCC, Prestatyn and Eryri and of course the parents et al who took 10 yrs off their cars clutch life getting the runners to the summit.
Good competition across the board in both sexes, the only record being broken was the open girls U8 where Bolton’s Liby Philbin took 6 seconds off the 2009 record.  Da iawn Liby.

Club members qualify to run for Wales

Congratulations to John Spill and Bronwen Jenkinson, who won the Welsh trial race in Betws for next month’s British & Irish Junior Mountain Championships for under 19 year olds.

Along with Cai Linton-Davies and Mollie Davies of Menai T&F, they’ll be competing for Wales in Glendalough in Ireland on Saturday, September 20th.

Good luck to all.

Ras y Tren – results including juniors

Thanks to all the helpers last night especially Paul Carter who had to run the race (19 minutes), and then type in all the entries and feed all the numbers and times in ready for prize giving.

Well done Rob Samuel, his third victory, while Llanrug’s Kathryn Gray recorded her first.

Heatwave conditions ensured no records were broken, unless you count 15 gallons of water drunk, while 144 runners beat the train’s time of 23.33. The Coffi Roc case of beer went to Travis Trotters 80.54, ahead of Betsi Runaways 82.46.

That’s the last time I set the girls off after the boys ! Despite coming in 1st  and 2nd Eden and Jack suddenly found themselves relegated to 4th and 5th by the three girls who had started off 15 seconds behind them. Thanks to Chelsea and Neil from Tesco for attending and starting the race and for also funding the goody bags.
The North Wales Junior Fell Championships take place on the Orme 20th September, make a note in your parents diary kids, entry forms will be on our website from mid August.  Mike
