This morning Welsh Athletics, along with the other Home Countries have decided on a number of immediate actions in relation to how the sport of Athletics will respond to the threat of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Welsh Athletics in cooperation with UK Athletics have decided to suspend all planned organised athletics activity until the end of April where the situation will be reviewed once more:
We have made this decision in accordance with the directives outlined by the government through the Prime Minister in his statement on Monday afternoon.
Welsh athletics would like to thank all members of the athletics community IN Wales for their support at this challenging time. We will endeavour to maintain regular, open communication as this situation develops. Please prioritise and support the health and wellbeing of yourselves and those you can within the Welsh Athletics family.

The Effect of personality on post-exercise recovery from treadmill running
Claire Barwood is looking at personality and recovery. Week 1 – VO2 max testing; Week 2 – based on 80% of your VO2 Max, two periods on the treadmill, using the recovery time in between to provide saliva samples and answering computer based personality questions, all whilst your heart rate is being monitored.
Background of the study
Personality varies from individual to individual in a number of ways. Personality can have an effect on our physiological and psychological responses in a number of different situations. For example, individuals with different personality traits show different psychological or hormonal responses to mental tests or mentally stressful situations. Some of the physiological and psychological measures that may change in these situations are also considered to be indicators of how well an individual recovers from physical exercise. Despite this, nothing is yet known about the way that personality can effect these measures following exercise. This study will therefore investigate the ways in which personality can affect the way that we recover from whole body treadmill-based running exercise.
We plan to go ahead with the Club Presentation Eve on Saturday evening in the hope that the worst of the Beast from the East will have passed. Paul at Caffi Moel Siabod is planning to open as normal tomorrow (Fri) & Sat, & the info we have re. the forecast for Sat eve is as follows: ‘No weather warnings. Dry. Temperature zero.’ Therefore get your glad-rags ready – we will rock!!
**PLEASE PASS ON /SHARE THIS INFO**
(If there are any significant changes to Saturday evening’s weather predictions, & we feel it’s wiser to cancel the event, I will post here by mid morning on Sat)
