Athlete study

Hello I’m a psychology student at UCLAN. I’m currently doing my dissertation and was wondering if any of your athlete’s would like to take part. I’m researching coach-athlete attachment type and the effects this has on eating psychopathology. I’m looking to see if there is a correlation between negative attachment types (anxious and avoidant) and eating psychopathology. I’m looking for athletes that compete at University 1st team level or other (regional, national, international, county, club) and was hoping you may have some athletes who would want to take part.

If you’re interested please email me back and I can send relevant information to take part in this research.

Regards, Joe.

PS: This requires athletes to complete an online questionnaire only, that should take no longer than 5-10 minutes. Also athletes have to be 18+ just for this particular study.

I know this can be a bit of a nuisance but if you or your athletes take part I’d appreciate this a lot. The whole participant process is quick and simple and should hopefully be beneficially! This research will also be used in a wider study later which is looking at the very important area that is athlete’s and eating disorders. I’d imagine this would be of interest to a lot of coaches and athletes.

Found GPS device near Llanberis

My wife and I walked to the summit of Snowdon on Saturday this weekend gone and found on the road Pen-y-pass side of Llanberis a GPS device in good order and barely marked. From its contents we guess it belongs to either a runner, keen walker or cyclist very local to Llanberis, but there is no name or home detail within this device. Someone will want it back, the Caernarfon Police are aware, Mountain Rescue have looked within the device to try to locate the owner to no avail, the manufacturer has been contacted in case it’s registered with them and we called in at two of the local locations within it to no avail.

Could you please ask your members if they know of someone who has lost one this weekend?  The police have my details and I will only release it to someone who knows the device details and it’s contents for obvious reasons.

Sincere thanks. This is a good piece of kit.

Kind regards.

32nd Welsh Castles Relay

The club committee have agreed to submit an entry into the prestigious Welsh Castles Relay, this year taking place on the 7th and 8th June.

The Relay is a 20 stage relay event travelling between Caernarfon and Cardiff Castle.  There are open, ladies and veteran categories.

So we need 20 runners for 20 stages.  It would also be fantastic if we could put together a ladies team, after all we are a big enough club and should be able to do it.

The stages involve hilly road and mountain sections.

Anyone interested please get in touch with Arwel Lewis on 07772 671202 or arweleryri@googlemail.com or see the below details and website.

Welsh Castles Relay – FAQS

Who to insure your fellrace with?

The club committee have agreed that any Race Organiser who is organising a fellrace on behalf of the club may obtain a race permit/insurance from whichever organisation they deem fit.

This removes the obligation decided several years ago that they must obtain it from Welsh Athletics/UK Athletics.

This decision recognises the fact that the burden of responsibility for race organisation and safety lies primarily with the Organiser, and therefore responsibility for meeting the permit issuers’ rules and regulations also lies with them.

The committee recommends that in order to reduce the risk of falling foul of litigation/disciplinary action Organisers should examine closely the rules and regulations pertaining to the permit they have received and ensure that their own race organisation meets them.

Free 1 day Coaching Course on offer

The club is offering one member the opportunity to attend an official LiRF training course to become a qualified coach for the club.  Costs associated with the training will be paid by the club, we only ask in return that you genuinely intend to use the qualification for the good of the club.

This will allow you to officially coach both seniors and junior runners.  We already have one qualified coach, namely our Chairman and Junior Trainer, Paul Jenkinson.  Paul however could always do with a hand with the juniors occasionally.  The person attending this will also be well qualified to help out at the other training nights.

If interested please get in touch with Arwel Lewis asap on 07772 302411 or arweleryri@googlemail.com
