BORDERS LEAGUE RACE 6 – Sunday 9th April. 11am Start
The 6th and penultimate race of the Borders Road Running League 2016/17 Season takes place this Sunday at New Brighton, Wirral. Postcode: CH45 2PB. A flat 5.2 mile out and back course which is free to run for all Eryri Harriers.

LIVERPOOL 10MILE & HALF MARATHON – 2nd April

LIVERPOOL 10MILE & HALF MARATHON – 2nd April
There were PB’s for Paul Wathan and Gemma Morgans once again at the 10 mile distance this time. Paul finished 2nd overall in a time of 55:55 while Gemma finished 2nd female in a time of 67:42. There were 406 finishers.
In the Half Marathon, Eurwyn Edwards finished 3rd MV/65 in a time of 1:40:47.
On the previous day at the Penrhyn Castle Parkrun, Ali Chant and his dog just missed out on winning the event by a second and that was despite a couple of detours off course mainly due to the event being run in the opposite anti-clockwise direction! There were 194 finishers.

CHESHIRE 10K and Conwy Parkrun

CHESHIRE 10K 26th March

There were 1303 finishers in the event where Paul Wathan recorded a PB for the distance by 21 seconds while finishing 12th in a time of 33:28 with Jason Parry-Jones also achieving a PB in 40th place with a time of 36:39 as did Gemma Morgans in 114th place overall with a time of 41:24.
The previous day, Paul Wathan recorded another Conwy Parkrun win in a time of 16:57 while Gemma Morgans finished 3rd female in 20:41. Paul Jones finished 3rd in 18:43. There were 252 finishers.
Over at the Penrhyn Castle Parkrun, Tammy Lewis-Joes finished 12th overall of the 191 finishers and 1st female in a time of 21:31. Arwel Lewis was the first male Eryri finisher in 5th place with a time of

 

6th Trail 6k – Portmeirion

9 Eryri Harriers were amongst the 145 finishers in the 6k trail race on Saturday 18th March. Eryri were led home by 7th placed Huw Owen 31:06 with Elliw Haf finishing 3rd female in a time of 33:53.

ARWEL’S BACK TO BACK DOUBLE RUNNERS-UP!

Arwel Lewis followed up his 2nd place finish in the Penrhyn Parkrun on Saturday 18th March with another 2nd place finish the following day at the tough Brynkinalt Estate 20km Trail race with a time of 90:17.
At the wet and muddy Penrhyn Parkrun, Arwel was followed in 3rd place by Brian Wills 20:27.

VALE OF CLWYD 10K – Sunday 19th March

Tammy Lewis-Jones was the first female finisher in 10th place overall in a time of 43:34 while Derek Weaver finished 8th & 1st MV/60 in a time of 40:59. A tough course made even tougher by the windy conditions! There were 57 finishers.

WILMSLOW HALF MARATHON – Sunday 19th March

Despite the windy conditions, there were still some very good performances at the annual event which many runners use to prepare for the London Marathon. Of the 3114 finishers, Eryri’s Rob Samuel having run all the race distance while mainly pushing the pace with fellow Welshman Andy Davies (Stockport) had to be content with 4th place overall in a very good time of 67:40 just behind Andy 67:30. The race was won by Mohammad Abu-Raczeq (Altrincham) 66:25 ahead of Sale Harriers Matt Bond 66:31.

WREXHAM MARATHON FESTIVAL

In the 3rd year of the event, Andrea Rowlands just gets better and better with age! following a Marathon PB and a 2nd placed finish in 2015 with a time of 3:00:00! a 1st place finish last year in a time of 3:02:05, Andrea went and topped all that, finishing 6th overall and 1st female going under the 3 hour mark for the first time in a terrific PB time of 2:54:22! Well Done Andrea.
Not to be out-done, Russell Bentley ran in his first ever Marathon in the event last year when finishing 2nd to Daniel Weston in a time of 2:38:24, this year, Russell turned things round to win the event ahead of Daniel in a time of 2:32:04 (Chip Time 2:31:59) with Daniel clocking 2:37:31. There were 166 finishers.
In the 20 mile race; Gemma Morgans finished 3rd female in a time of 2:26:18. There were 264 finishers.
Rob Samuel was a class apart in comfortably winning the Half Marathon by nearly 10 minutes in a time of 69:55 with Arwel Lewis finishing 9th & 1st MV/55 in a time of 1:28:07. There were 215 finishers.
