Alun Storms to Victory

Having only run one Half Marathon before (Blackpool in 2008. 1st in 69.47) Alun Vaughan also won the Conwy H/M today in a time of 70.31. Alun also had time to enjoy the scenery while running around the course which included a loop of Llandudno’s Great Orme as he won quite comfortably ahead of his club colleague, Brendan Rothery 73.56. With Arthur Connell 10th in a time of 80.21, Eryri also won the team title. Jim Bacon was another who had a good run finishing not far behind Arthur in 11th place in a time of 80.33 with Rob Chadwick 18th 82.35. Iwan Edgar won the MV/55 title finishing 53rd overall in a time of 88.23.

In all there were 19 Eryri Harriers competing amongst the 1578 race finishers.

The event also incorporated the North Wales H/M Championships with Gold medals going to Alun Vaughan. Iwan Edgar. Roy Jardine MV/65 and Tammy Lewis-Jones Female V/40.

Rob & Matt Leeds the Way

Eryri’s Rob Samuel and Matthew Roberts both represented Wales in the Inter Area Match at the Leeds Abbey Dash 10k today run in ideal conditions Rob finished 22nd overall in a time of 30.55 with Matt 33rd in a personal best time for the distance of 31.29. Richard Roberts was also selected for the event but had to withdraw due to a re-occurrence of his foot injury. There were some very good times all round in the event won by Luke Cragg in a fast time of 29.29. The 1st Welsh finisher was Dave Mountford in 11th place 30.03 with Andy Davies 14th 30.20. Menai’s Sarah Livett running for Wales in the women’s team also clocked a PB time of 36.26.
