FIRST RACE WIN for EIFION
 
There was a good turnout of nearly 80 competitors for the Bethel 7k on Wednesday 8th August with the runners following an anti-clockwise route  the undulating course, via The Greenwood Centre, Y Wern, Felinheli and back to Bethel. Eryri’s John Davies led the way towards the Greenwood Centre but was overtaken by club colleague, Eifion Williams who went on to win in a time of 24:12 with John finishing 2nd in 24:58. Nic Brook made it a 1-2-3 for Eryri in a time of 25:10. There was a very good turnout by Eryri with 6th Noel Craine 25:54. 7th Ali Chant 25:58 and making the top ten, in tenth, Anthony Davies 26:53. Menai’s Abbi Parkinson was the first female finisher in a time of 28:19 ahead of Mared Jones 29:54.

4 Eryri Harriers competed in the trail races (Mainly, uphill only) on Sunday 5th August in quite warm humid conditions.

In the junior men/women’s 6.8km/720m race, Tom Wood finished a very creditable 10th position overall  in a time of 43:30.

In the senior men/women’s 10.4km/1050m race, Rob Samuel finished 14th overall in a time of 58:46 with: 26th (5th female) Bronwen Jenkinson 68:51 and 32nd (9th female) Miranda Grant 74:27.

Felinheli 10k report and results

30 Eryri Harriers were amongst the 312 finishers in the Felinheli 10k on a hot and sweltering Wednesday 4th July evening. Neither the warm weather nor a herd of cows who apparently wanted to take part in the race around the 7k mark and crashed through the fences from field to field across the race route put the runners off though; Russell Bentley took a wrong turn and ran a longer distance than anyone else! Russell must have been trying to avoid the mad cows! He still won the race in a time of 34.24 with Eryri’s Catherine Connell taking the women’s title in 14th place overall with a time of 39.18. Eryri’s other category winners were: FV/40 Megan Hughes 43.55 & FV/50 Helen Blair 46.19.

Felinheli 10K 2018 results (1)

ONE FAIRY FRECKLED COW GOLD & TWO SILVERS for ERYRI

Meirionydd athlete Tom Roberts successfully defended his North Wales Regional Trail Running title at the Fairy Freckled Cow. Llyn Alwen 11k trail race on Sunday 1st July. Tom was one of the very few to complete the anti-clockwise course around the lake in a similar time (38.22) if not better than last year considering the very hot weather temperatures. Prestatyn athlete Amie Bagnall took the women’s title (47.27) ahead of the improving Eryri athlete Elliw Haf (48.12) Abergele Harrier Darren Blazier was the first Masters finisher in a very good time of 43.48.
Four Eryri Harriers were amongst the 137 competitors who completed the event with FV/40 Gold going Tammy Lewis-Jones with a time of 53.08. Elliw with senior women’s Silver. Arwel Lewis MV/50 Silver – (50.14) while Iorwerth Roberts finished 127th in a time of 90.08.

Borders League update

Borders League update – its now official, and we have the trophy to prove it, between us, (Lesley Lawson, Ali Donnelly, Becky Law, Jenny Heming, Megan Hughes, and me), the Eryri Ladies avoided any penalty points by having a complete team at each of the six races, so won the

SNOWDONIA HALF MARATHON

SNOWDONIA HALF MARATHON

Four Eryri Harriers were amongst the 632 finishers in the tough Snowdonia Half Marathon at Llanrwst on Sunday 20th May, an event which included a steep 1 in 7 climb after 11miles! Weather conditions were quite warm and sunny as the runners made their way into Gwydir Forest, past Llyn Geirionydd, Llyn Crafnant to Trefriw and back to the finishing line in Llanrwst. Eryri were led home by Arwel Lewis in 23rd position overall and 1st MV/55 with a time of 1:41:36 followed by: 32nd Huw Owen 1:43:43. 67th Guto Rhys 1:48:41 and 84th Steffan Evans 1:51:32. The event was won by North Wales Road Runners Martin Green in a time of 1:22:54.

Another well organised Run Wales event.
