WORLD MOUNTAIN RUNNING CHAMPIONSHIP TRIAL RACES – KESWICK
4 Eryri Harriers competed in the trail races (Mainly, uphill only) on Sunday 5th August in quite warm humid conditions.
In the junior men/women’s 6.8km/720m race, Tom Wood finished a very creditable 10th position overall in a time of 43:30.
In the senior men/women’s 10.4km/1050m race, Rob Samuel finished 14th overall in a time of 58:46 with: 26th (5th female) Bronwen Jenkinson 68:51 and 32nd (9th female) Miranda Grant 74:27.
30 Eryri Harriers were amongst the 312 finishers in the Felinheli 10k on a hot and sweltering Wednesday 4th July evening. Neither the warm weather nor a herd of cows who apparently wanted to take part in the race around the 7k mark and crashed through the fences from field to field across the race route put the runners off though; Russell Bentley took a wrong turn and ran a longer distance than anyone else! Russell must have been trying to avoid the mad cows! He still won the race in a time of 34.24 with Eryri’s Catherine Connell taking the women’s title in 14th place overall with a time of 39.18. Eryri’s other category winners were: FV/40 Megan Hughes 43.55 & FV/50 Helen Blair 46.19.
A well organised Gwyl Felin event, thanks to Eilir and Debbie Evans and their Team. More information, photos on the Gwyl Felin website:
