Paul Wathan of Eryri Harriers won Colwyn Bay Football Club’s Ty Gobaith 10k run in a new record time of 35mins 59 secs.

The 26-year-old from Old Colwyn took the lead early in the race and pulled away from the field to finish nearly three minutes ahead of second-placed Martin Greeen of the North Wales Road Runners Club, and knocked nearly two minutes of last year’s winning time of 37.37 set by Darren Blazier of Abergele Harriers.

To make it a double celebration his girlfriend Gemma Morgans, also of Eryri Harriers, was the first lady home in 45.11.

The event was well supported by local runners, helping to raise money for the Conwy-based Ty Gobaith Children’s Hospice.
