It is with great regret that I have to announce the sad passing of Peter Douglas.
Pete was a fantastic volunteer photographer and marshal and will be greatly missed by countless people in the world of athletics, but mainly for those involved in fellrunning, to which he contributed all of his spare time for the benefit of others, with nothing expected in return.
At this years club presentation night Pete was made a lifetime honorary member of Eryri for his services to fellrunning.
Further details will be posted here in due course.
Craig.
3/9/13 Update –
Many of you have been enquiring about Pete’s funeral. The answer is that at Pete’s request there won’t a public funeral to attend. There is however an intention to arrange something to celebrate Pete’s life. Details will be posted here and other places once this has been decided.
So sad. Pete will be truly missed. What a lovely person he was, and always smiling. His pictures and videos were always the first thing I’d search for after a race.
Such sad news. Pete was a true gentleman, & always willing to help. He loved the mountains, & seemed to enjoy being involved in our mad world of fell-running. Many precious memories are stored on his website, & reliving those memories by preserving Pete’s pictures & videos is the best tribute we can pay him.
Oh no such sad news. He was such a gentleman on every occassion I have met him. Rip
What a wonderful contribution Pete has made to fell running and his kind words of encouragement from behind his camera, perched on the hillside will be truly missed…so sad but glad to see he spent some of his last days smiling and enjoying himself in the mountains as usual.
This is such a shock,we were only talking to Pete at the Tryfan downhill dash where he was his usual cheery enthusiastic self, showing us the new lens he had just bought.
It is such sad news, he will be very sorely missed, but always remembered through all his wonderful photos.
Was stunned to hear the news when I heard it on the day – he seemed so full of life when I saw him 3 days previously. What a sad loss to us all. Mike.
