Round 3 – Joe Brown Midweek Series
Another great turnout, over 90 runners and 21 of them ladies, well done girls. The word had spread about the steepness of the course and a few top names were noticeably absent allowing the good climbers / descenders to come into their own.
From my vantage point on the climb Math and the Doc at it hammer and tongs, Math coming in to win in 26.32, the Doc 26.50 ahead of a close finish between Aled Edwards 27.42, Matt F 27.48 and Gwyn Owen 27.55. 1st 40 was Paul Jenks 6th while a sprint finish saw Jake hold off Mabon by 3 sec to take the U18s (10th & 11th ).
A new name on the scene was Menai’s Cai Linton taking the U16 in 14th, Jeremy took the 50′s in 28th, Clive the 60′s in 33rd while Emyr took the 70′s in 73rd. In the ladies a surprise win went to F40 Sarah Barnwell following a storming descent 34th in 35.05, Lisa having to settle for 2nd once again, 37th in 35.28, Ellie 1st 50 in 52nd while Maggie took the 60s in 82nd.
As a footnote on one of my favourite races I passed 16 runners on the descent and still only managed 3rd 60, must try harder!
In the Caernarfon Tyres Junior Champs over 30 again, Twm Owen & Kyla Cain taking the U8′s, Iolo Jones & Beth McEacthern the U10′s, Ollie Wilde & Jodie Cain the U12;s while Keiran Forrest took the U14′s.
Thanks to all those who turned out to run and help which made it all run smoothly and we were able to donate £30. to the local charities.
