Llangynhafal Loop: (full results not yet in so only a brief report)
A big turnout of over 130 runners in yesterday’s Llangynhafal Loop over in the Clwydian Hills. Mercia’s Tim Davies took the win but it was down to Martin Cliffe to once again take the crown of first Eryri runner home. Cliffe cantered home in 6th overall and 4th vet 40 in 41.10. Martin’s partner Jo Moore ran well to finish 6th lady but 2nd lady vet 40 in 53.37 with Ellie Salisbury 3rd lady vet 50 and Maggie Oliver first lady vet 60.
Red Kite Trail Race, Nant yr Arian:
97 runners took on the lengthier Red Kite Trail race on Saturday down in Nant yr Arian – now at half marathon distance. There was an impressive win for Colwyn Bay AC’s Nathan Jones in 1.22.43 with Eryri’s Rich Roberts doing well to finish in 2nd – only a week after competing in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks! Rich finished in 1.24.08. Ben Beachell was next Eryri man home in 13th in 1.38.22 with Paul Jenks – who’d have loved this fast and runnable course! – doing well to finish in 1.49.55.
Ras y Diafol
Following 2nd place for Eryri’s Richard Roberts at Saturday’s Ras y Barcud Coch at Nant y Arian there was further Eryri success in the longer Ras y Diafol. This time it was Llanrug’s journeyman Dyfed Whiteside-Thomas who ran excellently to finish in 2nd place in 2hrs and 6mins, just 5mins down on Aberystwyth’s Bulgarian Gancho Slavov. Iwan Edgar was next Eryri man home and 1st vet 55 in 16th in 2.31.
