Maesgwm Detour

This years Maesgwm Detour race will be held 05/08/23.

HQ and registration will be in the Padarn Hotel, High Street, Llanberis and will be open from 10am on the morning of the race. The race will start from outside the YHA (573598) at 12pm (a 10 minute walk from registration) with the kit check at 11.40am.

The race goes up from the Maesgwm tarmac road to 575587 where it heads east on a farmtrack to Hebron Station where it turns south down to Helfa Fawr Bunkhouse 583575 and over the stile onto the open mountain. From here you head east and follow the climbing contour (route choice) to the stile at 590557. The route then turns right following the fence up to Cynghorion 585565 and a fast run down to the top of the Maesgwm path 572558. From here Foel Goch 569564, Foel Gron 564565, Moel Eilio 556577 then a descent to the gate @557599. Left through the gate here following the track through the quarries to 540600 then a marked clockwise trod up to Cefn Du 546605 then back to the gate at 557599. From the gate down the track to the kissing gate at 564598, down the zig zag path through the bushes on to the tarmac road, left down the hill for 300 meters, through the gate, across the field, over the foot bridge, turn right up the hill to finish opposite the start.
