UKA Fell & Hill Relays 2026

Updated: 3 days ago

The British Fell Relays are one of the biggest team events of the year, bringing together clubs from across the UK for a full day of racing, atmosphere, and proper fell terrain. This year they’re hosted in Todmorden

We’re putting together the Eryri Harriers teams for the British Fell Relays on Saturday 17 October in Todmorden, and we’d love to know who’s interested in taking part.

The club is funding entry fees and some little extra team provisions. You will need to arrange own transport and accommodation. (sharing lifts etc)

If you’d like to run, please drop a quick message back so we can confirm numbers and start shaping the team.

It’s always a brilliant day out and a great team event. Race format

Teams complete four legs, each with a different style of running:

  • Leg 1 – Solo (short & sharp)   Fast, runnable fell terrain to get the team off to a strong start.

  • Leg 2 – Paired (longer, technical)   Two runners together on a tougher, more sustained fell route — often the most “classic fell race” leg.

  • Leg 3 – Navigation leg (paired)   Map‑and‑compass required. Checkpoints aren’t flagged, so good nav skills and calm decision‑making matter.

  • Leg 4 – Solo (fast finish)   A quicker, more runnable leg to bring the team home with a strong finish.

  • Expect a mix of:

    • Steep climbs

    • Open moorland

    • Rocky trods

    • Fast grassy descents

    • Technical nav sections depending on the host area

What to expect:

  • Hundreds of runners from fell clubs across Britain

  • Big club tents, flags, and support crews

  • A proper festival feel — everyone cheering each other in

  • Great social day out even for those not racing
