It's been another incredible few weeks for Eryri Harriers, with members flying the flag for the club across road races, fell races, mountain championships and international competition. From first-time racers to Welsh internationals, there's been something to celebrate at every level – proving once again that Croeso i Bawb really is at the heart of our club.
Llanrug 5K – A Sea of Eryri Vests for our local 5K!
An amazing number Eryri Harriers lined up among the 238 finishers at the ever-popular Llanrug 5K.
Leading the way was the ever-improving Huw Gwynn, who stormed home in 3rd place overall, improving significantly on last year's fourth-place finish. Tinka Vinns continued a strong run with 2nd Female. Former winner Ian Edwards continued his remarkable consistency, finishing 9th overall and taking the M40 category win. Also, long time dedicated member Jennifer Charlton, achieved a brilliant 2nd in her age category.
There were outstanding performances right through the field, including podium age-category finishes for Jai Chauhan, Tinka Vinks, Elliw Haf-Roberts, Amber Chauhan, Ali Thomas and Malcolm Jones.
With strong performances from front to back, it was fantastic to see so many green vests out enjoying another brilliant local event.
A huge thank you goes to the organisers and volunteers who delivered another excellent race despite heavy rain before and after the event. Thankfully, race time itself stayed dry, making for an enjoyable evening of racing.
The race also hosted the North Wales Regional 5K Road Running Championships, where several Eryri athletes picked up championship medals. Thanks to Paul Brooks for coordinating and presenting the awards.
International and National Success
Tom Wood Makes His GB Debut!
A massive congratulations to our member Tom Wood, who proudly made his Great Britain debut at the European Off-Road Up & Downhill Running Championships in Kamnik, Slovenia.
Tom finished 36th overall, was the third GB scorer, and helped the GB Senior Men's team finish 9th out of 18 nations over the demanding 13.5km course with 860m of climbing.
A fantastic achievement and one everyone at Eryri is incredibly proud of.
Jai Chauhan Represents Wales
Another proud international moment for the club saw Jai Chauhan represent Wales at the World U18 Mountain Running Cup in Italy.
An incredible experience and another example of the exciting young talent coming through the club.
Well done Jai!
Welsh Masters Success at Swansea Half Marathon
Representing Welsh Masters, Gemma Moore continued her excellent season by finishing 2nd F40 in a superb 1:22:14.
Clubmate Glyn Griffiths also enjoyed a strong run, finishing in 1:36:35 amongst almost 7,000 finishers.
Well done both!
Cymru Selection for Ras Wyddfa
Congratulations to Efa Baines, Jaqueline Lee, Kieran Wynne-Cattanach, Cai Dafydd (second claim) and former junior Bronwen Jenkinson, who have all been selected to represent Team Cymru at Râs Wyddfa 2026.
Their selection highlights the strength of Eryri Harriers, from grassroots beginners taking their first steps into running right through to athletes competing on the international stage.
Ras Foel Fras Delivers Another Classic Club Race
The fifth race in the North Wales Series attracted 81 runners to tackle the demanding slopes of Foel Fras.
Race Organiser Suzie Richards and her brilliant team of marshals delivered another superb event, with fantastic prizes kindly sponsored by Aber Falls Distillery and beautiful engraved slate finishers' mementoes featuring the inspiring Welsh proverb:
"Dyfal donc a dyr y garreg" – Persistent effort breaks the stone.
The atmosphere after the race, with runners enjoying refreshments outside Caffi'r Hen Felin in the sunshine, perfectly summed up what makes our fell running community so special.
Congratulations to our race winners:
Sion Edwards – Men's Winner
Miranda Grant-Roberts – Women's Winner
There was further Eryri success with Matthew Fortes finishing third overall and Jackie Lee and Andrea Rowlands completing an all-Eryri women's podium.
A huge thank you to every marshal and volunteer who made the event possible.
Strong Women on the Pilgrims Marathon
Our wonderful members Felicity and Cadi took part in the Pilgrim's Trail Marathon on a day which saw multiple seasons of weather in one day. According to Felicity, it was a lovely run on the Llyn Peninsula. Started off dull, windy and quite chilly but warmed up and the sun came out. The beach finish was tough on tired legs but the free ice cream and cup of tea was great.
Since Cadi joined Eryri Harriers last year she has gone from strength to strength. The nurse and mum of 2 young boys started running a few local races. Her confidence trail, fell and road is an solid example of how much a community and team benefits individuals and the whole club alike.
Felicity is one of our amazing members that not only runs the most awesome adventures but also volunteers and marshalls in a number of club and local events. Her dedication to the team is very much appreciated.

Success at the Brecon Beacons Long Distance Championships
Congratulations to Owain Hunt Williams and Dafydd Williams from taking part at the Welsh Long Distance Championships in the Brecon Beacons. Owain did brilliantly, finishing an outstanding 2nd overall
A special mention also goes to Ellie Salisbury, who was part of the fantastic organising team helping deliver another successful championship race. It's always wonderful to see Eryri members contributing both on and off the course

Mish Mash Bethel 5K
Another excellent turnout saw 17 Eryri Harriers take on the Mish Mash Bethel 5K.
Ian Edwards led the club home in 8th overall, recording personal best for the event route with 16:57 (not to bad in a heatwave!).
The standout performance came from Gemma Moore, who continued her remarkable season by winning the women's race and smashing the course record with a fantastic 18:40. Clubmate Elliw Haf-Roberts, the previous course record holder, finished second in 19:32, making it an Eryri one-two.
Congratulations to everyone who raced, and thank you to the organisers and volunteers for another brilliantly run local event.
